Meet Curt
Curt is a professional musician, composer, producer, and piano instructor based in Nashville, TN. His musical style is rooted deeply in Gospel, Jazz, and Classical, with an emphasis on modern worship music. Over the past decade he has worked with Christian and Gospel superstars like Jason Crabb, Marvin Sapp, and Tauren Wells, as well as other leading artists like Ron Kenoly, The Crabb Family, Judy Jacobs, and Clint Brown. Curt has also worked alongside several leading producers in the industry including Gospel super-producer Aaron Lindsey, renown songwriter and producer Geron Davis, and legendary producer and “David & The Giants” frontman, David Huff. In addition, he has played for a host of America's top preachers including Pastor Rod Parsley, Pastor Samuel Rodriguez, and Bishop Kevin Wallace. Curt graduated from King University in Bristol, TN with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and is the founder of both The Buell Institute of Music and record label & production company, Red Note Music®.

His musical journey began at the young age of 6 when his parents enrolled him in private piano lessons after discovering his ability to play songs “by ear”. He spent the following 8 years in lessons studying classical piano technique and music theory through the music of composers like Mozart and Beethoven, as well as participating in middle/high school band programs as a pianist and percussionist.

Curt began playing piano in church full-time at the age of 15. He served his home church for 6 years before launching into full-time music ministry in Houston, TX where he served as musical director for a church in the Greater Houston area. During this time, Curt was a staff member of Prisma School of Worship Arts as a piano and organ instructor. He also worked as a freelance studio musician and guest pianist within the Houston Jazz circuit. An avid Jazz fan, some of his favorite pianists of this genre include Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, and Beegie Adair.

As a teenager, Curt began teaching private piano lessons to young students in his church. Over the last ten years, his clientele has grown to students of all ages and skill levels. His approach to teaching involves using the basics of music theory and ear training to develop one’s own style and sound. His primary focus for teaching is to empower students of all backgrounds to play fluently in a way that can be used pragmatically in everyday life. He launched The Buell Institute of Music, a fully online music school for piano and music production (currently serving 60+ weekly students) in early 2020.

Curt is now developing and producing new artists. He aids them in writing/arranging, recording, and publishing their music for the world to enjoy. His record label and production company Red Note Music® offers full publishing services through ASCAP, and works to provide clients with professional, high-quality, and affordable music.

Throughout his career, Curt has established strong partnerships with several notable companies in the music business. These include Juicy Earz (in-ear monitors), LYYL Workstations (studio desks), Marino Customs (instrument cables), UVI (software and sound design) and IK Multimedia (hardware/software).
